What is mental performance coaching?

Mental performance coaching helps athletes strengthen the mental skills that support confidence, focus, resilience, and consistent performance. It is evidence-based, proactive, and designed to help athletes perform at their best in sport and life.

How is it different from therapy?

Mental performance coaching is not clinical therapy. Therapy focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. Mental performance coaching focuses on performance, mindset, confidence, and skill development.

Athletes do not need a diagnosis to benefit from this work.

Who benefits from it?

Athletes of all ages and levels — youth, high school, collegiate, professional, and adult performers — as well as coaches and parents. Anyone who wants to improve confidence, focus, motivation, or consistency can benefit.

What does a session look like?

Sessions are collaborative and goal-focused. We identify challenges, build mental skills, and create practical strategies athletes can apply immediately in training and competition.

Sessions may include visualization, confidence training, focus strategies, emotional regulation, and performance routines. The duration is typically 50–60 minutes for 1:1 sessions and can be done in-person in Virginia Beach, VA or virtually.

Do you work with teams?

Yes. Terri works with athletes across all sports, including soccer, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball, track & field, gymnastics, cheer, swimming, tennis, and more.

Mental performance skills also support high-performing professionals whose roles demand focus, resilience, confidence, and emotional regulation under pressure.

Do you offer packages or ongoing programs?

Yes. Packages are available for athletes who want consistent support and long-term development. These can be customized based on goals, season schedule, and needs.

Do you work with injured athletes or return-to-play situations?

Yes. Terri supports athletes navigating injury, recovery, and return-to-play confidence. Mental performance is a critical part of the rehabilitation process.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. Virtual sessions are available and widely used by athletes and families for convenience and flexibility.

What ages do you work with?

Terri works with youth athletes, typically ages 10+, teens, collegiate athletes, professionals, and adult performers.

How long does it take to see progress?

Most athletes begin noticing improvements within a few sessions, especially when they consistently apply the skills between meetings. Long-term growth comes from repetition and practice.

What is the cancellation policy?

Sessions must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.

Is insurance accepted?

No, mental performance coaching is not covered by insurance. Terri offers affordable payment plans, and many clients have successfully used their HSA/FSA accounts to pay for services.

Coverage varies by provider, so clients should check with their HSA/FSA administrator.

Do you offer workshops for businesses, organizations, or corporate teams?

Yes. Terri offers business development and performance workshops designed to help teams improve communication, leadership, resilience, and high-pressure decision-making.
